Tuesday - SS8H4 quiz Wednesday - SS8H5 notes Thursday - Document analysis of George Whitefield Friday - CRCT (IFC) review/ Yazoo Land Fraud comic strip Monday - Students will complete an activity worksheet on the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation.
Tuesday - Finish the notes on SS8H4. Wednesday - Students will complete a 6 C's on the Articles of Confederation. Thursday - iCivics assignment on the anatomy of the U.S. Constitution Friday - CRCT Review on portions of SS8H3 and SS8H4 Students will take notes on the Georgia Constitution of 1777 and the Articles of Confederation. Attached is the graphic organizer and link for notes.
Students will complete the SS8H3b flip book (which makes a total of 4 separate flip books with 5 terms on each or 20 separate flash cards.
Flip books will not be taken for a grade until Wednesday, October 23rd. Use them to study! The exit ticket assignment for last week was postponed due to students needing to complete vocab books. Review packets will be distributed on Tuesday, October 22nd and to be completed by Thursday. Reminder: Unit assessment for SS8H3 will be on Thursday, October 24th. Study early and study often! On Thursday, students will complete the last part of the notes for the unit on Georgia's role in the American Revolution. (Link is found at SS8H3a post.)
Students will receive a few minutes in class to complete any missing work for the week after they finish the "Almost There" quiz/exit ticket. On Friday, students will have a few additional video notes/questions to take and complete any missing work. On Tuesday, students began the notes on SS8H3 - Loyalists, Tories, Battle of Kettle Creek, Siege of Savannah.
On Wednesday, students worked on a 6 C's of document analysis using a letter written in support of the Loyalists. Mr. Jackson gave some background to the author's point of view before the analysis and asked students to use their notes to gain insight. Attached is Remember: The Declaration of Independence 6 C's, flip books on SS8H3a, and Loyalist letter 6 C's are all due by Friday, October 18th. Reminder: There will be a brief "Almost There" quiz/exit ticket on Thursday, October 17th. Kudos to those students worked hard and earned those good grades. Now, it is time for a fresh start and more Georgia history!
To begin this 9 weeks, students will finish and turn in the Declaration of Independence document analysis. This needs to be turned in by Wednesday, October 16th. Mr. Jackson will be modeling some 6 C's of document analysis briefly in class on Tuesday. These assignments will be a big part of student's grades going forward. On Monday, students will be completing a vocabulary flip book on the key terms from SS8H3a. (This will be part of a larger project that all students will begin later in the week.) Students analyzed the Stamp Act and Boston Tea Party using a political cartoon and worksheet for analysis. Attached are both the cartoon and worksheet.
